Great Plains Limnology Conference
CODE OF CONDUCT
Since its inception, the Great Plains Limnology Conference has been a venue that supports collegial interactions. In order to maintain this atmosphere, the following code of conduct was created for the conference and all associated events.
The Great Plains Limnology Conference, open to all interested in limnology, freshwater fisheries, and allied fields, is an annual event in which a core goal is to encourage a welcome and safe environment for learning, networking, and engaging with new ideas. Regardless of race, ethnicity, status as a veteran, sexual orientation, physical appearance, gender identity, profession, religion, disability, or any other status protected by university policy or local, state, or federal law, we are committed to providing a professional working and learning environment that is fair and responsible; that supports, nurtures, and rewards educational and professional growth on the basis of relevant factors such as ability and performance.

Expected Behavior:
- All attendees and presenters associated with the Great Plains Limnology Conference will:
- Be treated fairly and with respect, particularly in regards to diversity of perspectives and opinions
- Communicate in a way that critiques ideas rather than criticizes individuals
- Respect others and the career levels of others
- Discuss professional qualifications truthfully, without hyperbole, and without the defamation of others
- Be mindful of others and fellow participants. Please alert the Great Plains Limnology Conference organizers of a dangerous situation or if someone is in distress
- Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in any form. Harassment includes speech or behavior that is not welcome or is personally offensive. Behavior that is acceptable to one person may not be acceptable to another, so use discretion to be certain respect is communicated.
- Harassment intended in a joking manner is still regarded as unacceptable behavior.
- Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following
- Harassing photography or recording, including taking photographs or recording of another individual’s oral presentation or poster without the explicit permission of that individual
- Disruption of presentations, poster sessions, or other events organized by the Great Plains Limnology Conference at any venue
- Retaliation against individuals for reporting behavior and retaliation against conference organizers for managing unacceptable behavior
- Anyone requested to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately
- Great Plains Limnology Conference organizers, a designee, or security may take immediate action deemed necessary and appropriate, including the individual’s removal from the event without warning or refund
- If you witness or are subject to any unwanted behavior, please immediately notify one of the following:
